CCC Sprandi Polkowice pro cyclists to set pace at GFNY Gdynia

This has never been done before! Pro cyclists from CCC Sprandi Polkowice team will act as pacemakers at GFNY Gdynia helping amateur riders to get to the finish line in their dream time.

Pacemakers are pretty popular on the road running events.

- We would like to copy this concept on a cycling event. Peloton is a huge force. Cyclists ride in groups saving energy and supporting one another. But it's the leading rider at the front who takes on the biggest burden and sets the pace – says Michał Drelich, race director. - Thanks to our cooperation with CCC Sprandi Polkowice, it will be the team's experienced athletes' task to set the pace. They know exactly when to speed up and when you should slow down to optimize your performance. They will be very helpful for groups of riders aiming for some specific results  – he adds.

Together with Piotrem Wadeckim, sports director at CCC Sprandi Polkowice, we have planned pacemakers for groups aiming to ride with an average speed of 20, 25 and 30 km/h.

- Certainly, it doesn't mean we will keep a constant pace for the whole race. We are going to climb slower and then speed up a bit on the flat sections and downhills. Our aim is to get to the finish line as a group in the expected time – says Piotr Wadecki. - Our cyclists will be easy to recognize. All the riders will be wearing official GFNY Gdynia race jerseys which are mainly green while we will be wearing our orange jerseys. Do not hesitate to ask questions and have a chat with us on the course – he adds.

Inaugural GFNY Gdynia takes place on May 27, 2018. Registration is still open on SlotMarket.pl
